Cooper Kupp and the Seattle Seahawks have agreed to a three-year contract worth $45 million, according to multiple reports. On Wednesday, the Super Bowl 56 MVP, Kupp, was let go by the Los Angeles Rams. He will assist Seattle in replacing DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, who were traded for Geno Smith’s quarterback, and Sam Darnold was signed in free agency. Kupp, a star at Eastern Washington College and a native of Yakima, Washington, is returning to his home state. In 2021, he won the receiving triple crown by catching 145 passes for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns, earning him the AP Offensive Player of the Year award. Kupp caught 33 passes for 478 yards and six touchdowns in the postseason for the Rams, including the game-winning catch in their Super Bowl victory over Cincinnati. Kupp was plagued by injuries and did not record 900 yards in his final three seasons. He had a rough finish last season, during which he missed four games early with an ankle injury. Kupp had just 12 catches for 162 yards in the final five games of the regular season, the worst stretch of his career. As Puka Nacua blossomed into an elite NFL receiver over the past two seasons, his role with the Rams also diminished. Davante Adams, a three-time All-Pro wide receiver, was signed by Los Angeles this offseason to a two-year contract that could be worth up to $46 million. Coach Sean McVay selected Kupp in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft for the Rams. He caught 634 passes for 7,776 yards and 57 touchdowns during his career, making him an important part of the offense. Elsewhere, the Los Angeles Chargers have beefed up their offensive line by signing guard Mekhi Becton. Becton, a right guard who stands 6 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 363 pounds, started 19 games for the Super Bowl-winning Philadelphia Eagles last season. He enabled Saquon Barkley, a running back, to rush for 2,504 yards and 13 touchdowns. From Louisville, the New York Jets selected Becton with the 11th overall pick in the 2020 draft. In addition, the Chargers and linebacker Del’Shawn Phillips agreed. The 28-year-old signed a one-year deal to play for Houston last season. Phillips has appeared in 72 career games with the Texans, Baltimore, New York Jets, and Buffalo.
